Silicone-Based Lubricants

Silicone-based lubricants sit on the surface of the skin rather than absorbing into it. The result is lubrication that lasts significantly longer than water-based formulas — no reapplication required during extended sessions, and fully waterproof for shower and bath use. A small amount goes a long way: Eros Super Concentrated Silicone Bodyglide uses less than half the volume of a

  standard lube per session.

Silicone-based lubricants sit on the surface of the skin rather than absorbing into it. The one rule that matters most: silicone lubricant permanently damages silicone toys. The two materials react on contact — the toy surface becomes tacky, then sticky, then begins to break down. The damage cannot be reversed. If your toy is made of medical-grade silicone, use a water-based lubricant instead. Silicone lube is safe with ABS plastic toys, glass, metal, latex condoms, and polyurethane condoms.

      Situation Use Silicone Use Water-Based
Anal play Yes — long-lasting essential; no natural lubrication present Only if using silicone anal toys
Shower or bath sex Yes — waterproof formula stays active No — washes away immediately
Extended sessions Yes — no reapplication needed Reapplication required as it absorbs
Silicone toys No — degrades toy material permanently Yes — only safe option
Latex condoms Yes — compatible Yes — compatible
Sensitive skin / allergy concerns Yes — no preservatives, no fragrance (Pjur has 2 ingredients) Check ingredients; many contain preservatives

This collection stocks three brands. Pjur Original (Germany) is a two-ingredient formula — cyclopentasiloxane and dimethiconol — with no preservatives, fragrance, or colorants. Available in 30ml, 100ml, 250ml, and 1000ml. Eros (Germany) offers the Super Concentrated Bodyglide range and a dedicated Mega Power Anal formula designed for higher viscosity and longer sessions. Wet Stuff (Australia) offers the Premium Silicone Bodyglide in a 460g bottle — the most cost-effective per-use option in this collection.

Cleanup requires soap and water — silicone does not rinse off with water alone. It also transfers to fabric and bedding more readily than water-based formulas, so a towel underneath is practical.

Can I use silicone lubricant with silicone sex toys?

No. Silicone lubricant reacts with silicone toy material on contact. The toy surface becomes tacky, then sticky, and eventually begins to degrade permanently. The damage cannot be reversed. If your toy is made from medical-grade silicone, use water-based lubricant only. Silicone lube is safe with ABS plastic, glass, and metal toys.

Is silicone lubricant safe with condoms?

Yes. Silicone-based lubricants are compatible with latex condoms and polyurethane condoms. They do not degrade latex the way oil-based lubricants can. Do not use oil-based lubricants with latex condoms — silicone is the correct choice when a long-lasting, condom-compatible formula is needed.

How long does silicone lubricant last compared to water-based?

Silicone molecules are too large to absorb through skin pores, so the lubricant stays on the surface and remains active for the full session without reapplication. Water-based lubricants absorb into the skin and dry out — reapplication is typically needed every 10 to 20 minutes during extended use. For anal play or long sessions, silicone has a clear practical advantage.

Can silicone lubricant be used in the shower or bath?

Yes. Silicone lubricant is fully waterproof and does not wash away with water. This makes it the correct choice for shower sex, bath sex, or any water-based activity. Water-based lubricants wash away immediately on contact with water and are not suitable for use in water.

How do I clean silicone lubricant off skin and toys?

Silicone does not rinse off with water alone. Use soap and warm water on skin. For toys, wash with mild antibacterial soap and warm water, then rinse thoroughly. Silicone transfers to fabric (bedding, towels) more readily than water-based lubricant — a towel underneath during use is practical. Most stains wash out of fabric with a normal laundry cycle.

What is the difference between Pjur Original and Eros Bodyglide?

Both are German-made silicone lubricants with no preservatives or fragrance. Pjur Original contains exactly two ingredients (cyclopentasiloxane and dimethiconol) and is one of the most widely reviewed silicone lubes globally. Eros Super Concentrated Bodyglide is priced lower per millilitre in larger sizes — the Eros 250ml offers better per-use value than the equivalent Pjur volume. Eros also offers a dedicated Mega Power Anal formula with higher viscosity designed specifically for anal use.
